§ Major Petherickasked the Minister of Supply whether, in view of the waste of effort involved, he will take power to stop in urban areas the erection of wooden palings round the private gardens of squares to replace the iron railings which have been taken by Government order.
§ Mr. PeatThe only wood which may be used for such purposes is of small diameter and was excluded from the Timber Control Orders as not being required for essential purposes. My right hon. Friend would not, therefore, be justified at present in adopting the suggestion on supply grounds.
