§ Captain CrookshankAt the outbreak of war there were approximately 11,620,000 Post Office Savings Bank depositors, and the aggregate balance due to them was £537,530,000. On 26th January, 1944, there were about 17,300,000 depositors with an aggregate balance of £1,262,830,000 in round figures.
