§ Mr. W. J. Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now make an order releasing men of 60 years of age and over from fire-guard duties under the Business Premises Order.
§ Mr. H. MorrisonThe amount of duty performed away from home has already been greatly reduced for all classes of fire guard, and further relief will be given as soon as circumstances permit. Meanwhile any fire guard can apply for exemption on the grounds of medical unfitness or exceptional hardship. In these circumstances I do not consider it desirable to alter the age limits for fire guards now.
