HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 cc441-2W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the Prince of Wales College, Achimota, Gold Coast, has been recognised since October, 1935, as an institution submitting candidates for external degrees of London University and represents the only existing attempt to give the African native a university education of any kind; and, as the college has fulfilled this function with success, will he add a representative of its governing body or of its educational staff to the commission appointed to inquire into higher education in British West Africa?

Mr. Emrys-Evans

My right hon. Friend is aware of the standing of the Prince of Wales College, Achimota. The Commission on Higher Education in West Africa includes amongst its members Mr. K. A. Korsah who is a member of the Achimota council, the governing body of the college.
