§ Captain P. Macdonaldasked the Secretary of State for War whether experiments have been made in appointing Africans as platoon commanders in native forces; and whether such a scheme has justified its extension?
§ Mr. A. HendersonYes, Sir. African platoon commanders have been employed with success in the East African Colonial Infantry battalions for just over a year. It is considered, however, that an extension of this policy should not be undertaken until further experience has been gained of its operation.
