HC Deb 28 October 1943 vol 393 c394W
Mr. Messer

asked the Minister of Health whether he can make arrangements to secure that nurses, who leave a superannuable post to take up Civil Defence nursing at a lower salary and thereby lose their superannuation rights, shall have this made clear to them before being appointed?

Mr. E. Brown

A nurse employed by a local authority is already carrying on an essential form of national service and should as far as possible remain in her present occupation. If she proposes to transfer to Civil Defence nursing, she would be well advised to consult her senior officer about her superannuation position.
