HC Deb 26 October 1943 vol 393 cc46-7W
Mr. E. Walkden

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what official position was held by Lord Carlisle in Turkey on behalf of the United Kingdom Commercial Corporation; why he has been recalled; whether he has since been asked to resign from his position; and what were the reasons for dispensing with his services?

Sir J. Anderson

Lord Carlisle held the position of Chief Representative of the United Kingdom Commercial Corporation in Turkey. He was asked to return because the Board of the Corporation considered a change in representation had been rendered advisable by altered circumstances.
