HC Deb 26 October 1943 vol 393 cc44-5W
Mr. Bellenger

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what liabilities are incurred by British officers and other ranks serving in India for Income Tax other than those for which they would be subject if serving in the British Isles?

Mr. Amery

I have been asked by my right hon. Friend to reply. The rates and conditions of Indian Income Tax differ from those of British Income Tax with the result that the liabilities incurred are also different, sometimes greater and sometimes less, in accordance with variations in income and in the size of the family. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of my previous answers of 13th May and 3rd June on this subject.
