HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 c905W
Mr. Driberǵ

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether he is aware that a block of offices is advertised to be built after the war on the old Westminster Hospital site; and if he will take steps to prevent individual speculative enterprises of this kind from prejudicing general plans for the rebuilding of London?

Mr. H. Strauss

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir." In answer to the second part of the Question, the London County Council are the Interim Development Authority for this area, and the Town and Country Planning (Interim Development) Act, 1943, has conferred on them and my right hon. Friend appropriate powers for use in such a case, if it were found that the project conflicted with the proposed provisions of the scheme for the area.
