HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 cc918-9W
Commander Galbraith

asked the Minister of Labour what is to be the weekly total of the hours of work of the boys and girls of 16 to 17 years of age whom he proposes to direct to the aircraft industry?

Mr. Tomlinson

The hours of employment of females and young persons are controlled by the Factories Act, 1937, and in the absence of special authorisation under Emergency Powers in an individual factory, the total weekly hours will be limited by the provisions of that Act. Special authorisations are given only after examination of all the circumstances in the individual case, and I am therefore unable to give a more specific answer to my hon. and gallant Friend's Question.
