HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 c741W
Mr. Craven-Ellis

asked the Minister of Health whether he will give an undertaking that large public works contractors will not be employed by local authorities on housing until after the small and medium local builders, who are more efficient on this class of work, are fully occupied?

Miss Horsbrugh

My right hon. Friend does not think that the exclusion which my hon. Friend suggests is the right way of securing the best results in the execution of a housing programme: the type of contractor employed must vary with the size and nature of the particular contract.
