asked the Lord President of the Council whether the recent association of the Gas Research Board with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research has yet resulted in a report on the further use of valuable byproducts of the gas-making process so as to conserve the nation's coal assets?

Study of the use of the by-products of the gas-making process will, I am informed, be included in the programme of research of the Gas Research Board. Work on this subject will be taken up as soon as staff and equipment are available. No report has yet been issued.
