HC Deb 11 November 1943 vol 393 c1311W
Mr. Shephard

asked the Attorney-General when the remaining independent pensions appeal tribunals will be set up?

The Attorney-General

The tribunals for England and Wales are set up by my Noble Friend the Lord Chancellor; those for Scotland by the Lord President of the Court of Session; and those for Northern Ireland by the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland. The number of tribunals which operate at any one time depends upon the number of appeals which are at that time ready to be heard. Cases are now being made ready for hearing at an ever increasing rate, and in addition to the tribunal already sitting in London, further tribunals will sit in London and in Manchester within the next fortnight. Other tribunals will be sitting at the large provincial centres in England and Wales early in the new year. Arrangements for the tribunal in Scotland have already been completed, and the arrangements for the Northern Ireland tribunal will be completed shortly.
