asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the total number of undertakings in the mining industry which have become necessitous undertakings under the Coal Charges Order, 1942, giving the latest figures, and separate, for each district in the British coalfield?

The total number of undertakings to which financial assistance has been given under the Necessitous Undertakings schemes in the coal industry is no, divided between the districts as follows:

Scotland 31
Northumberland 4
Durham 4
South Wales 21
Yorkshire 16
Notts and Derby 6
South Derby, Cannock Chase Leicester and Warwick 8
Lancashire, Cheshire and North Staffs. 10
Other districts 10
