HL Deb 27 May 1943 vol 127 c728WA
LORD BARNBY

asked His Majesty's Government whether, in view of the increasing importance of the position on the Australian Continent of the State of Queensland, the time has not now arrived to arrange upward revision of the emoluments of the Governor, so as to bring them more into harmony with those accorded to Governors of other States.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT CRANBORNE)

(Lord Cecil): This matter is one for the Government of Queensland since the salary of the Governor is paid from funds provided by the Parliament of Queensland.

House adjourned.
