HC Deb 06 May 1943 vol 389 c330W
Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether members of the Women's Land Army, having been injured at their work, necessitating hospital treatment and operation, having also been dismissed by their employers to avoid having to pay double wages, are expected to meet all hospital expenses?

Mr. Hudson

Any member of the Women's Land Army working away from home who requires hospital treatment on account of injury or ordinary sickness is entitled to be treated under the Emergency Hospital Scheme for transferred war workers. Like other such workers she would be required to contribute to the cost of such treatment is so far as her means allowed.
