HC Deb 25 March 1943 vol 387 cc1791-2W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Attorney-General what use His Majesty's Government proposes to make of the experience, machinery and the staff of the Land Registry in connection with devising and carrying out post-war town and country planning?

The Attorney-General

The staff of the Land Registry, already greatly depleted by calls of national service of various kinds, is very fully occupied with the work laid upon it by the Land Registration Act, and may be expected to be still more fully occupied when, after the war, the work of extending compulsory registration is undertaken, I cannot make any general statement as to the extent to which the work done in the Registry can be made available for the purpose indicated in the Question.
