HC Deb 24 June 1943 vol 390 c1330W
Sir G. Shakespeare

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has any evidence that letters written by relatives to those who are prisoners in Japanese hands are being delivered by the Japanese authorities; and whether he advises parents to write regularly to such prisoners?

Mr. A. Henderson

The answer to both parts of the Question is "Yes, Sir." In view of the censorship difficulties in Japan it is, however, thought inadvisable for a family to write more often than once a fortnight.
