§ Mr. Noel-BakerThe building opposite Queen Victoria Street Fire Station acquired by the City Corporation for the purpose of widening Queen Victoria Street is not an empty, derelict building, but is occupied by the Cleansing Department of the City Corporation. There is a shortage of accommodation in the City, and for that reason, and in view of the shortage of labour, I do not think it would be opportune to adopt my hon. Friend's proposal at the present time.
