HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 c316W
Mr. Rostron Duckworth

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether he will give the approximate number of cases in which furniture in the houses was purchased when houses were requisitioned; and whether such requisitioning of furniture was made with the approval of the owners or not?

Mr. Hicks

I regret that it is not possible without excessive labour to separate figures relating to the requisitioning of various classes of property so as to indicate cases involving furniture, but it is not the practice of the Department to requisition private furniture required by a householder for his own personal use.
