HC Deb 17 February 1943 vol 386 c1762W
Sir A. Maitland

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether, in view of the large number of children whose lives have been lost in road accidents in recent years, he can indicate what special precautions have been taken to instruct children in the correct use of the roads?

Mr. Noel-Baker

Yes, Sir, the Board of Education, the local education and police authories and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents are working together to secure more teaching in the schools on the subject of road safety. My Noble Friend has helped the Royal Society to extend their activities in various ways, and the Society are specially emphasising the danger to children in the propaganda campaign which they are now carrying on. The B.B.C. are also arranging talks and "flashes."
