§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will authorise importation of 500 copies of the third edition of a small medical book, written by a British woman consultant now in charge of a department of an emergency hospital, and published in the United States of America owing to the shortage of paper here for which an import licence has been refused on the ground of shipping stringency, notwithstanding protests, of which he has been informed, from experts of the Mayo clinic and other recognised authorities?
§ Mr. DaltonNo, Sir, I see no reason for departing from the general practice in this case. Within the limits of their respective quotas, it is open to any of the usual importers to import copies of this book from the United States. Alternatively, the publishers of the previous editions in this country can, if they wish, publish a third edition here, using for this purpose part of their paper quota.
