HC Deb 04 February 1943 vol 386 c1073W
Dr. Summerskill

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that the Lanarkshire Joint Committee on Venereal Disease, representing the county and all the burghs in Lanarkshire, have approved a motion in favour of the compulsory notification and treatment of venereal disease; and whether he will take steps to make notification of this disease compulsory?

Mr. Johnston

I am aware of the Lanarkshire motion. As regards the last part of the Question I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to the hon. and gallant Member for East Renfrew (Major Lloyd) on 17th November last, and to the Government statement in the recent Debate in this House on 15th December in connection with Regulation 33B.
