HC Deb 03 February 1943 vol 386 c905W
Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that 15,000,000 all-reclaim motor-car tyres for civilian requirements have been scheduled for production in America, where transport is dependent upon automobiles; and, in view of the fact that in this country the use of cycle traffic is essential, whether he will issue an order for the production of an all-reclaim cycle tyre and all-reclaim motor-car tyre retreading materials, in order to economise in the use of crude rubber?

Sir A. Duncan

I am advised that it would be wasteful to make either cycle covers or car cover retread material wholly of reclaim, which would give a less reliable article with a shorter life.
