§ Mr. R. C. Morrisonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that certain firms in Spitalfields and Covent Garden markets insist upon selling their produce on a cash basis; and what steps are being taken to prevent the revenue from being defrauded?
§ Sir K. WoodIt does not follow that all cash transactions are for the purpose of evading taxation. I assume that what my hon. Friend has in mind is not the cash sale itself but the exclusion of such a transaction from Income Tax Accounts and he may rest assured that the Inland Revenue authorities are fully alive to this method of evasion.
