§ Mr. Jacksonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that it takes up to three months to get repairs done to children's shoes in some areas; and whether he can speed up this service?
§ Mr. DaltonMy information is that the average time taken to repair shoes is between two and three weeks. A waiting period of three months is quite exceptional and could only be due to a local shortage of the necessary skilled labour. My regional directors of footwear repairs investigate such cases and do what they can to help. I am glad to find that in many districts priority is given in cases of special need to the repair of children's footwear.
