HC Deb 16 December 1943 vol 395 cc1706-7W
Mr. Lawson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any information on the discovery in Portugal of the person who gave information to the Germans which resulted in the destruction of a British aeroplane and the loss of British lives; and what representations have been made to Portugal on this matter?

Mr. George Hall

His Majesty's Government have of course made the most careful inquiries into this matter but they have no information bearing out the story recently published in the Press on which the hon. Member's Question is no doubt based. There has therefore been no occasion to make representations to the Portuguese Government in this connection.
