§ Mr. R. Morgan
asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he has now received from the North-western Regional Controller a Report of the Controller's Conference with the Lancashire and Cheshire Colliery Deputies and Shotfirers' Association, the Lancashire and Cheshire Collieries' Undermanagers' and Under-lookers' Association and the Lancashire Branch of the National Association of Colliery Managers on discipline in coalmines and the adverse effect of the Essential Work Order as applied to coalmines; whether he has considered the proposals made at this discussion; and whether he intends to adopt them?
Major Lloyd George
I have seen the memorandum submitted by the bodies referred to and the report of the meeting between them and my Regional Controller. Proposals similar to some of those suggested in the memorandum have been under consideration in my Ministry and will be the subject of discussion in the near future with the national representatives of the employers and the men.
