HC Deb 07 December 1943 vol 395 c796W
Mr. Lipson

asked the Postmaster-General whether the rates of pay for schoolchildren who assist with the Christmas mail will be the same for both sexes?

Captain Crookshank

No, Sir. The rates of pay for school children who will assist with the postal work at Christmas are fixed within prescribed maxima which provide for differential rates for boys and girls. The rates for individual towns are settled in consultation with the local employment exchange authorities and after discussion with the head masters or head mistresses concerned.
