HC Deb 05 August 1943 vol 391 cc2495-6W
Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture if his attention has been called to the damage about to be done by the plague of large white butterflies now infesting green crops and laying eggs thereon; and if he will issue advice to counter this pest?

Mr. T. Williams

Yes, Sir. White butterflies are now abundant in many districts and unless the resulting caterpillars are destroyed damage is likely. Advice on methods of control of these pests is contained in publications by the Ministry which are available to the public on request. I am sending copies to my hon. and gallant Friend. I am also arranging for the matter to be referred to in broadcast talks.
