HC Deb 20 April 1943 vol 388 cc1545-6W
Dr. Peters

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his Department dealing with the Registration of Business Names Act has ever taken any and, if so, how many, proceedings on its own motion and not on a complaint made by a person during the past six years; and what steps does he propose for the provisions of the Act being more rigidly enforced?

Mr. Dalton

Proceedings under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1916, have on a number of occasions been initiated by the Board of Trade, but to extract the figures required by my hon. Friend would entail a volume of work which I could not justify under present conditions. As regards the second part of the Question, I do not consider that any such steps are called for.
