HC Deb 30 September 1942 vol 383 cc802-3W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware of the confusion and frequent loss of supplies caused to housewives on account of the fact that the points ration coupons do not contain any indication of the date of expiry; and whether he will consider applying to point coupons the system of date stamps now applicable to the personal ration book for sweets and previously used on points coupons?

Mr. Mabane

Ration books have to be printed many months in advance. Difficulty may arise where specific dates are printed on the coupons, and the hon. Member will be aware that in the case of the personal points coupons the printed dates are not now correct. Blocks of coupons relating to four weekly rationing periods are consistently numbered throughout the ration book, and information as to the weeks covered by any current block of coupons is published regularly in the food facts advertisements. No difficulties should arise if reasonable care is taken by all concerned.
