HC Deb 11 September 1942 vol 383 c550W
Mr. Stephen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of old age pensioners in Glasgow in receipt of a supplementary pension who received an increase of 6d. per week or less, between is. 6d. and 6d. per week and between 2S. 6d. and 1s. 6d. per week of increase, respectively, and the number who received the full increase of 2s 6d. per week, with corresponding figures in respect of married couples?

Mr. Johnston

Information specially relating to Glasgow and in the precise form desired by the hon. Member is not available. Inquiry has shown, however, that in 104,000 out of 109,000 cases in the whole of Scotland, pensioners have received the recent increases in full. In the relatively small remaining number, the pensioners were already in receipt of additions varying in amount, under Section 13 of the Old Age and Widows' Pensions Act, 1940, and where necessary modified increases to place the pensioners on an equality with others in like circumstances, were given.
