HC Deb 09 September 1942 vol 383 c186W
Mr. Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that a number of smallholders in the North of Scotland are dependent upon poultry for their livelihood; and, in cases where this can be proved, whether he will make arrangements to issue the necessary coupons for feeding stuffs?

Mr. Johnston

I am advised that the supply position will not permit of any general increase in the number of coupons being issued for feeding stuffs to poultry keepers. It is recognised that hardship may in some instances be occasioned to commercial poultry keepers, large and small. But it is hoped that smallholders may be able to maintain their stocks very largely from the produce of their holdings.
