HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 cc57-8W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Secretary of State for War whether a decision has now been reached with regard to the suggested absorption of the mobile Voluntary Aid Detachments in the Auxiliary Territorial Service?

Sir J. Grigg

No, Sir. My hon. Friend will recall my announcement that a Committee was to be set up, under an independent chairman, to consider the position of Voluntary Aid Detachments in relation to the Services. Progress was subsequently made to the extent of determining the composition of the committee, but unfortunately the chairman had to resign, to take up other work of national importance, before it could begin its deliberations. I am taking steps to fill the appointment anew.
