HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c47W
Captain Gammans

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that there are numbers of Malayan and other rubber planters in Australia and New Zealand with military experience who are anxious to join the Indian Army; whether the military authorities approve or disapprove of the idea; and, whether in view of the difficulty in the way of their joining the Dominion forces, he can make arrangements for these men to enter combatant ranks as suggested?

Mr. Amery

I have been asked to reply. I should be very willing to bring my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion to the attention of the authorities in India but before I do so perhaps he would give me some further information about the personnel that he has in mind.
