HC Deb 21 October 1942 vol 383 cc1988-9W
Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what are the rules and regulations governing the pit production committees?

Mr. T. Smith

Pit production committees are not statutory bodies and are, therefore, not subject to any fixed set of regulations. Their constitution varies slightly from district to district, but in every case they are representative of both workers and management. They are in existence at almost every pit; they meet for the most part weekly and they draw up their own rules of procedure. Their main function is to discuss and advise on all questions of production and increasing output. My Regional Controllers are responsible for the effective working of the pit production committees in their areas.
