HC Deb 19 November 1942 vol 385 cc540-1W
Captain A. Graham

asked the Home Secretary whether, in the interests of the solidarity of the United Nations, he will exercise watch on the activities of the "Catholic Herald" newspaper, which on 9th October gave a false account of an interview with the Belgian Minister of Information, thus sowing dissension between Belgian Socialists and Catholics, and refused to stop the publication of this falsely reported interview, in spite of the Minister's request and disavowal of the statements imputed to him?

Mr. H. Morrison

The publication of this article does not appear to infringe any of the provisions of our law and it is not within my province to pronounce any judgment as to the circumstances in which it came to be published. In the circumstances, no action is called for on my part.
