asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will increase the issue of 1s. coins in view of the fact that these are now very scarce and that there is a considerable demand for them for various purposes?

There has been no recent evidence of scarcity of one shilling coins and in present circumstances I would not be justified in increasing the proportion of that coin in Mint issues.
