HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 cc2270-1W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he has considered a communication from the Portsmouth Labour Party regarding the action taken by the Portsmouth local authority in the appointment of the food control committee for the ensuing year; and whether, as members of the local authority were not allowed to vote for or against the individuals nominated or to make additional nominations, with the result that the proposed composition of the food control committee will not be properly representative, he will request the local authority to submit fresh nominations more democratically selected?

Mr. Mabane

I have seen the communication referred to by the hon. Member. With regard to the second part of the Question, my Noble Friend sees no occasion to intervene in the procedure followed by a local authority in selecting nominees for appointment to local food control committees.
