§ Mr. Naylorasked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the large number of bound copies of serial magazines, and similar publications, still being retained in the public libraries; and whether any effort is to be made to induce local authorities to allow them to be collected as paper salvage?
§ Mr. PeatI am informed that most public libraries regularly dispose of large quantities of books and magazines for salvage, but I understand that a considerable number of bound copies of serial magazines and other publications are still retained. Plans for a national collection of books and magazines have for some time been under active consideration with the Library Association, who have promised the co-operation of the libraries.
