§ Mr. Lindsayasked the Minister of Health whether it is now the policy of the Government to allow nurseries only for children up to the age of five years; whether nurseries may still be established for children between two and five years of age, open for hours suitable to the locality; and why regional officials have refused to sanction a nursery of the latter kind against the wishes of a local committee?
§ Mr. E. BrownThe policy of the Government is to provide nurseries to meet the present and prospective needs of the district concerned; the scope of the provision to be made at a particular nursery is a matter for consideration in the light of local circumstances. I will look into the case mentioned in the last part of the Question if my hon. Friend will let me have the particulars.
