HC Deb 25 March 1942 vol 378 c2010W
Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much timber was used in building the mock battleship in Trafalgar Square in connection with the Warship Week; how many men were employed and the total cost of same?

Sir K. Wood

Of the 15,000 feet of "three by one" timber used, 8,000 feet was old material lent from store by the contractors while at least 5,600 feet of the remainder will also be available for further use. Twenty-two men were employed at various times and for various periods. The total cost is £672 12s.
