HL Deb 24 March 1942 vol 122 cc426-8WA
LORD BARNBY

asked His Majesty's Government what system of accounting is in force for Lease-Lend food passed on to wholesale and retail traders in the United Kingdom against current payment.

LORD WOOLTON

Lease-Lend foodstuffs are dealt with in the trading accounts of the Ministry of Food in a manner similar to other imported foodstuffs, a notional f.o.b. cost being computed and debited for the purpose of the trading accounts against the Ministry of Food. Thus, the foodstuffs in question are invoiced to distributors in the United Kingdom at prices comparable with those charged for similar foodstuffs imported from other sources.

The LORD CHANCELLOR acquainted the House, that the Clerk of the Parlia ments had laid upon the Table the Certificate from the Examiners that the further Standing Orders applicable to the following Bill have been complied with: Railway Companies (Thomas Cook & Son Limited, Guarantee) Bill. [H.L.].
