HC Deb 19 March 1942 vol 378 c1689W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the scarcity of reliable figures for the cost of production of commodities on the farms throughout the country, he will confer with the Lord President of the Council, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with a view to the publication of the data upon which the recent adjustment of farm prices was prepared, since the publication of this data would do much to dispel the existing impression that the awards and adjustments had not been a generous interpretation of what the agricultural industry is entitled to under the Government's pledge?

Mr. Hudson

No, Sir. I have nothing to add to the public statements which I have made on this subject, except to say that the recent adjustments of farm prices represent a settlement which is just both to the farmers and the taxpayers.
