HC Deb 11 March 1942 vol 378 c1076W
Major Milner

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether wheat bought from the Canadian Wheat Board passes through the Canadian Wheat Board and selected export firms; whether commission is payable in both cases; and what is the approximate amount of commission paid since the outbreak of war?

Major Lloyd George

The Ministry of Food purchases Winnipeg wheat futures from the Canadian Wheat Board. Export firms in Canada offer in competition actual wheat for delivery at fixed dates and at specified ports on the seaboard in exchange for these futures. No commission is payable by the Ministry in either case and all export firms are free to submit competitive tenders.
