HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc661-2W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a considerable amount of clerical work is involved by private firms such as laundries who, owing to the transference of Army units have cheques in payment of work already carried out, returned to them "account closed" and have to correct and re-present such cheques to the respective units; and whether arrange- meats will be made for the cashing of such cheques at banks close to where units are stationed?

Mr. Sandys

I am not aware that difficulties of the sort mentioned have in fact arisen, but if my hon. Friend will send me particulars of any such cases I will gladly inquire into them.
