HC Deb 11 June 1942 vol 380 c1265W
Colonel Carver

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what tonnage of jam made last year by branches of the Women's Institute centres has been destroyed owing to its bad keeping qualities?

Major Lloyd George

My Department is not aware that any jam made by the preservation centres last season has been destroyed. Small amounts which were of poor keeping quality were sold to children's institutions as sub-standard jam in addition to their ration.
