HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 cc527-8W
Sir J. Wardlaw-Milne

asked the Home Secretary how many wardens' posts there are in the London area; how many air-raid precautions wardens are there employed; and what proportion of these are on full pay?

Miss E. Wilkinson

My right hon. Friend does not think it desirable to make public in any detail the numbers and dispositions of particular units or establishments of the Civil Defence services. I may, however, inform my hon. Friend that approximately 18 per cent. of the wardens now enrolled in the London Region are paid whole-time personnel and the proportion is in process of reduction as part-time enrolments increase.
