Mr. De la Bèreasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will have inquiries made regarding the case of Mr. L. Coates, of Witten Croft, Pinvin, Per-shore, who has a potentially large fruit crop, estimated at 75 tons, who has been unable to obtain petrol for the haulage of this crop and is faced with the loss of two-thirds of it for the want of transport?
Major Lloyd GeorgeMr. Coates made application for an allowance for the July-August period for transporting plums and apples, but indicated that his estimate might need to be revised when the weight of the crop Would be more definitely known. The divisional petroleum officer therefore made a provisional allowance intended to carry him on until he could estimate his requirements more closely. An inspector who called on Mr. Coates on 10th July found that he had not yet needed to use any part of the allowance. The provisional allowance has now been increased in the light of the inspector's discussion with Mr. Coates.
